Vermont City Marathon 2011
Hey Everyone,
I'm embarking on running in the 2011 Vermont City Marathon in support of Outright Vermont again. Outright Vermont is a Youth Center and Statewide Advocacy Organization for queer youth (in Vermont) ages 13-22. I have been part of the Outright team since August 2009, and I couldn't imagine a better place to be fundraising for!
As some of you know I will be leaving Outright in June to pursue my Masters Degree in Social Work at Smith College. This years Marathon will be my last event with Outright in an, official capacity, so I figured why not go out with a bang?
Queer youth need our continued support so that they can feel safe and accepted in their schools and communities. The work of Outright Vermont does just that, by providing a safe space, support groups, Anti-harassment presentations in schools, GSA Network support, and much much more!
This year in an effort to become more state wide and support youth outside of Chittenden County we have expanded our Friday night social and support group services to reach youth in Rutland and Montpelier. Next year we hope to reach out to youth in Brattleboro and St. Albans. We will also be offering a week of Queer Camp in August of 2011.
Last year we hosted our Annual GSA Conference in Montpelier with over 150 youth in attendance making it our LARGEST CONFERENCE EVER! This year we will be hosting the conference in Brattleboro and hope to smash that number.
Queer youth in Vermont need your support in order to make these expansions and supports available to them! Please consider making a donation no amount is too small, from pocket change, to $100 it's all accepted, it's all tax deductible, and it all MAKES A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OUR YOUTH!
Thanks again for your continued support! I'll keep you updated along the way, and hope to see some of you race day ;-)!
