Autism Society of Acadiana is sponsoring a day-long bullying prevention seminar to be held April 24, 2012 at River Oaks in Lafayette. The presentation by Esther Williams, M. Ed, is a three-pronged approach to reducing the harmful effects of bullying in our schools and across other environs by addressing: the one who is a bully, and what we can do to change their behavior; the person who is being bullied – what are some proactive and coping strategies the individual can use when they are being bullied; and lastly, our responsibility as a society and how to be a catalyst for change for all affected. ASAC is proud to be the sponsoring organization as we believe bullying is an issue that affects not only individuals with autism spectrum disorders and their families but all of society as well.
