I'll be running the Fox Valley Marathon on September 16th, 2012 in St. Charles, IL.  and am hoping to raise $2,500 for the Lupus Foundation of Illinois to bring awareness, hope, and inspiration for people fighting Lupus, including ME. 

 In 2010, I woke up one December morning with a malar rash that seemed to come from  nowhere.. It looked like I had a chemical burn across my face. I went to a dermatologist who said that It could be a number of different things but that it should go away soon. It got better, but never completely went away. Fast forward 6 months and I noticed I was incredibly sensitive to sunlight,- I got sunburned very easily despite my olive complexion and my rash would become worse with sun exposure. Then came the pain: severe arthritis in my hands and fingers followed by rapid weight loss, mouth sores, extreme fatigue, and pleurisy and kidney issues.

I struggled training for my marathon last year due to what my body was fighting but through prayer and petition, God provided me the energy, the will, and the support to persevere. I was a little too late to raise money for this cause last year so this year I made sure I joined the fundraising team early!
