Craig's Coastal Ride
I've reached a transitional period in my life and decided to make my transition an adventure, for a cause!
I'm riding my bicycle from Fernandina Beach, FL (just outside Jacksonvile) to Jersey City, NJ (just outside NYC). I'm leaving Oct 24th and plan to arrive there on, or before Nov 24th for Thanksgiving with my family. My sister, Trina, will be hosting Thanksgiving for the first time at her new place. Can't wait to get there and feast!
The cause is Camp Starfish. Back in 2006 I decided to spend my summer break as a camp counselor on a lake in New Hampshire. I had an amazing experience and had the oppertunity to serve some awesome kids. I returned in 2007 and 2009. The summer of 2008 I was taking grad classes for my MSW program. Working there has had a huge impact on my life, and I can't imagine how it impacts the fortunate campers to get to go there. This is no normal summer camp. It is a special place for kids with various challenges in life. At Camp Starfish kids get to have an amazing summer with some well trained and caring staff.
This is a very worthy cause and I, as well as the kids, will greatly appreciate any financial support you can give.
My goal is to raise $1 for every mile I ride.
I will be keeping track of my milage on my blog. Follow me at: craigscoastalride.blogspot.com
