Cristina Doherty's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! Words cannot adequately express how much it means to me that you would donate to the Accelerated Cure for MS. Those of you who have known me understand how Multiple Sclerosis has impacted our family. This year I am running the 2010 Boston Marathon in memory of my Auntie Nan, who courageously spent a lifetime with Multiple Sclerosis and cousin, Katina, who has waged a daily battle with MS since she was diagnosed 25 years ago. Having MS means living with a central nervous system under constant attack. This can often mean unpredictable and debilitating effects on walking, vision, and cognition. Current MS therapies offer help in treating symptoms and slowing its progression. In my lifetime it is my hope that these treatments will be replaced by the paramount hope—a cure.
The Accelerated Cure Project's main effort is the creation of a large-scale, multidisciplinary MS Repository of blood samples and data from people with MS. They are also developing a Cure Map to establish and document what is known and what is not known about the causes of MS. Accelerated Cure also provides information and services to people and families of people with MS. For more information, see www.acceleratedcure.org/about/index.php
Accelerated Cure Project is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt, nonprofit public charity. Its federal employer ID number is 04-3555864. Accelerated Cure Project is a recipient of the Health Impact Award, which is granted to organizations and individuals making the biggest impact on the lives of patients and other people in their fields, and is also designated as a Four Star Charity by Charity Navigator.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. And please don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Thank you again for your generous support!
