Upcoming fundraising events:  SAVE THE DATE!   Saturday, March 27th!

SCENE Art & Events Gallery at the new National Harbor will be hosting a multi-media exhibit to benefit the World Food Program on Saturday, March 27th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

SCENE is located at the National Harbor (first exit off the Woodrow Wilson Bridge on MD side).   Rachel Hofer's beautiful photography of children at WFP operations in Kenya and Nicaragua will be on display.  Live dancing, video and slide presentations, and beautiful artwork from around the world will intrigue young and old alike.  Interactive and informational displays about WFP will accompany the artwork.   Please stop by!  A donation is requested either in advance (through this web site) for $10, or at the door for $12.  Your name will be put on the list at the door or you can bring your email receipt.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.

On January 12, a destructive 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti toppling hospitals, schools and homes. The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has launched an emergency operation, mobilizing all available resources to address the humanitarian needs in Haiti, in support of the Government of Haiti’s response efforts.
Early assessments indicate that as many as 3 million people – about one third of Haitians –may be in need of humanitarian assistance. Previous natural disasters had left around 1.9 million people in Haiti with limited access to food.

Food distributions began on January 13 and more food is on its way to Port au Prince, from the WFP hub (or humanitarian base) in El Salvador. Because many houses have been destroyed, and people have no access to cooking facilities, ready-to-eat rations (including high energy biscuits) are being distributed. The first airlift will feed 40,000 people for one week. Additional food for up to 2 million people in need is on its way to Haiti.

Every donation will help.
