I ran 26(.2) miles for my 36 years:
Hartford, Connecticut . Saturday, October 14, 2006. #264, 4:23:28. (If you have the trivia postcard, the answer is "F," All of the above.) See photos. For my race review see the Boston Luna Chix Running Team November Newsletter.
I’ve been running with the Boston Luna Chix, a fabulous group of women who promote fun fitness among women and raise money for the Breast Cancer Fund (BCF.) Many thanks go to the Luna Chix and others who have inspired and supported me.
There are so many wonderful organizations that one could support, but the unique thing about the BCF is that it focuses on eliminating the environmental causes of cancer. One of the BCF’s more prominent projects is The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. Use the Searchable Product Guide at http://www.safecosmetics.org/your_health/skindeep.cfm to find out about the safety of toiletry and cosmetics products you use every day. You can support companies that have pledged to not use chemicals that are known or strongly suspected of causing cancer (see list of companies at http://www.safecosmetics.org/companies/signers.cfm.) To find out about other ways you can reduce your exposure to cancer-causing chemicals and environmental hazards and read more about what the BCF is doing visit http://www.breastcancerfund.org/.
Detection does not equal prevention. Breast cancer is not just a women’s disease and the efforts of the BCF help promote a healthier life for everyone. I hope you will join my efforts to help the BCF continue its advocacy and educational work.
Donating through this site is easy, but I didn't set the requirements. If you don't want your name to show you can put "Anonymous"-- but then I won't get to thank you. Better yet, so the BCF will get 100% of your donation, send a check made out to the Breast Cancer Fund to me at 96A Sycamore Street, Belmont, MA
02478.
Thank you for your support – and don't forget to send this website or my mailing address to anyone you think might want to donate as well. I’ll be raising funds through to December 31, 2006.
