HAAS SUCCESS STORY:

Vision Exam-Glasses: Salmon Bay School, Seattle: "A student with considerable financial disadvantages came to school one day with his glasses broken in half. His mother could not afford to replace them, so he went without glasses at school. This student had learning disabilities and had a hard enough time in school already. Without glasses, he couldn't see the board, open his locker, or read essential information from books and assignments. The student was also experiencing severe headaches from trying to refocus his vision, and it was seriously impacting the ability to learn and participate in class activities. Using Haas funds, we were able to take this student to receive an eye exam and a new pair of glasses. Now able to see again, he was able to do the normal school routine. His prescription had actually changed, so the result was that he was seeing even better. It was exciting for him to once again participate normally in school and to no longer experience headaches. We would not have been able to help this student without the financial support of the Haas Foundation."
