The purpose of this specific charity is to show the immense power of collaboration using social media.
The goal is to raise $17K by donation of $1 from 17,000 people to build a school in Vietnam that will give the gift of education to 100s of children every year.
The concept is easy in practice and in application. Donate $1 yourself, then invite 5 of your closest friends and family to do the same. Repeat. Until 17,000 people have been reached.
I've started by donating $100. I will donate $1 every time $100 is donated until the target is reached. In this way, my generosity will be dependent on other people's generosity . Now that is collaboration for you. I challenge other's to do the same with even every $500 or $1000 or whatever you like. As soon as 1000 people join with a donation of minimum $1, I will donate an additional $100
Room to Read, the not-for-profit who will build it, will keep us posted on every step of construction, and their work was recently commended by Bill Clinton at his Clinton Global Initiative.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to your friends and family who you think might want to donate too!
Thank you in advance for helping to change the world through education!
