As many of you know, my mother, Eve Haim, has always placed others in front of herself. As a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and caregiver to teacher's children she has helped many people grow to become great people. From leading the landmarks preservation society in Sea Cliff to her countless other volunteer positions within the village, she has never said no and she has never asked for help. (So we are doing it for her)
She, and many like her, are in need. Only a few months ago she was diagnosed with MDS, a rare bone marrow disorder. Perfectly healthy and strong as ever we were soon to learn what we were up against. While her insurance has been great and taken care of the costs, she is not alone and there are many more like her. Frequent Dr. visits, shots, chemicals, transfusions and bone aspirations attempted to keep the disease in check and begin to reduce its progress. Unfortunately, initial drugs have not worked.
The GREAT news, is that through the generous giving through the national bone marrow registry we have found a match and she is now eligible for a transplant. However dangerous, this is the only cure for her condition which has now progressed to AML (Leukemia).
There is SO MUCH that can be done to help in the fight against this disease and stop its unregulated progression but we need your help. AWARENESS is key, and our first step was this event.
Our goal now is to continue getting the word out and driving funds so that we can continue the EVE HAIM CHALLENGE for races and years to come.
Please help, whether its $10, $100, $250, $500 or $1000 your donation matters. All donations to this site will get you a BRAVERY bracelet.
To see photos of the family please visit www.haimfamily.com and if you have more please send them so they can be uploaded.
Let's all show Evie how much we care...the race might be over but the fight is not...the money goes to research for a cure as well as education for those affected.
AAMDS provides FREE information on how to navigate your insurance situation, your rights when it comes to insurance, coordinates efforts with volunteer groups to assist or pay for transportation to treatment INCLUDING BY AIR, assistance with lodging, medication, research for a cure and treatments, patient advocacy and most importantly...a person to speak with. It is times like these that we all need someone to talk to and AAMDS has been there for our family. Please be there for them, let's get the word out and assist in increased funding for these activities all for the love of Evie.
LOVE YOU MOM!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR EXTREME GENEROSITY and KEEP THE LOVE COMING
Even if you cannot afford to donate, you can send you wishes to Eve.
