In honor and respect for my Father, I am running in my first 1/2 Marathon! We are supporting our troops by running in the Marine Corps 1/2 Marathon in Jacksonville, FL on Oct. 1 - race fees go to USO for troop support, but this fundraising effort is for a special cause.
My Dad lost his battle with Melanoma in 2009. My Dad should be here today and through Research, Education and Advocacy we are going to help the MRF save lives and they already are.
Melanoma, sadly, is the fastest growing cancer in the world, deadliest form of skin cancer if undetected and yet it is 10 years behind in awareness than other better known cancers. It's way past time to start Fighting this Beast.
In partnership with Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF), my dear friend Paula Heacox and I founded Jacksonville Melanoma. Paula is an amazing person introduced to me when my Dad was sick by MRF, Paula is a Stage IV Melanoma thriver.
We've been Blessed to now form a partnership with the biggest game in town - the Jacksonville Jaguars, their executives partnering with Baptist Health are sponsoring a Jacksonville Melanoma Research Foundation Jaguars Game on Oct. 9th 1pm versus Cincinnati Bengals!! All sorts of Ultimate Fan experience opportunites for sponsors, donors, team members and general public!!!
