UNC DANCE MARATHON 2010!!!

The UNC Dance Marathon is a year-long fundraising effort to raise money for children and families at the UNC Children's Hospital. In our 12th year of Dance Marathon, we hope to raise more money than ever, topping our record set last year of just over $394,000.00. After a year of volunteering in the community/hospital, planning and running events to promote our cause and raising money, all the efforts culminate into a 24-hour marathon from February 19-20, where dancers pledge to stand and dance for all 24 hours in order to show the families we are helping that they are not alone. The families and their children then let us know how much they appreciate our efforts in the end when they come to the marathon and speak to us in the very moving last hour of the night. While the 24 hours is so much fun, hearing the families talk at the end reminds us what the heart of this cause is truly about, helping the kids.
Being a senior at UNC - Chapel Hill, this is my last chance to participate in Dance Marathon. As a sophomore, I was a dancer and raised $100 for the cause. I enjoyed the experience so much that I became a Moraler/Team Captain in my junior year. My job as a moraler was to keep my dancers excited and lively throughout the entire 24 hours. That year, I raised over $1,000 for families and children at the UNC Children's Hospital. Since this is my last year I can raise money for Dance Marathon, I want to make it my biggest and best one yet. This cause means so much to me and has become an extremely important part of my life at UNC. This year, I am once again a Moraler/Team Captain, because I truly loved being such an integral part of the cause last year. Please help me in reaching my highest goal yet of $1,500 (and hopefully even more!!) this year. Each and every one of your donations goes a long way in helping so many families in need. All money donated goes directly to helping the children and families in need. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and being a part of touching so many lives.
