World Vision works to tackle the root causes of poverty by working with children, families, and their communities to provide things like: clean water, health care, nutritious food, education, and economic opportunities.

 

 

Since I started running about 5 years ago, I thought of "someday" running a marathon. To be honest, I had put that desire aside for some time, thinking it will never happen. Then, in the fall, I started to pray about an "opportunity" for a physical challenge. A challenge that would take me beyond myself and involve great discipline. Soon the "opportunity" arrived through Shelter Rock Church. It is a chance to run a marathon, which was something I had long desired to do and rekindled that spark. Better yet, it was a fantastic way to help raise money for impoverished children who can only dream about half of what we have in this country. Having been on a few missions' trips, my eyes were truly opened to how much I take for granted. For example, running water, meals and snacks whenever I want them, lots of clothes ☺ and a car that takes me where I need to go everyday.
