The need for utility assistance in Out-Wayne County is greater than ever for three reasons:

1. Unemployment in Out-Wayne County is well above the national average.

2. The state budget has cut funds for emergency utility assistance by more than half and other available resources for assistance (like THAW) have also decreased.

3. The rising cost of energy in the U.S. makes it difficult for people with low-incomes to pay their high heating bills in the winter months.

This is Wayne Metro's only fundraiser because utility assistance is such an important need in Out-Wayne County.  Your donation may help a family dealing with a financial crisis and asking for help for the first time.
