Thank you for joining my adventure as we help Orphans in Africa together.
This year, I have committed to
climb
Mt.Kilimanjaro in December of this year to help a non-profit christian organization called Ambassadors in Sport (AIS) grow and multipy soccer academiess in South Africa. All of the money raised goes towards these academies that are not just soccer driven, but provide life skills development, HIV/AIDS education, and impart moral values into
Africa’s next generations. They give many disadvantaged children the opportunity to progress not just in soccer, but in life!
Africa is expected to be overwelmed by 30 million AIDS orphans by the year 2010 (watoto.com). Further, every year in Africa, six million children die from malnutrition before their fifth birthday (cozay.com). These are some of the obstacles we are trying to overcome!

Below is a brief testimony from a staff member about one of the Hope Academies.
Hi AIS Family,
I just want to update you one one of the best days I have had since joining AIS 5 years ago.
On the 6th of September we held a family day in Drakenstein for the Hope Academy project. It was an amazing day where God showed up BIGTIME!
It was a historic day as no family members had ever been allowed inside the prison sections ever before!
We held a match where the family members watched, we then presented the Hope Academy program, the boys did a presentation and the family members were taken into the prison and shown the cell where the boys live.
I will try and sum it up very quickly but it is hard to put this day into words:-
Just imagine a day where God brought mother and son back together after years of disappointment and separation. The boys said “this is the first time my family has ever watched me play sport”. One warden cried and others were deeply moved as they saw how God had changed the boys as they were being reconciled with their families. Some boys testified how God has changed them this year, how they were in gangsterism but God showed them another way and how God has shown them HIS love this year. Not one father turned up on the day which brought sadness but one boy stood and testified how the boys want to break this cycle and be the father figures for this next generation. One boy cried on his bed as his family did not come and other parents came around and prayed over him – he was broken but we believe God can turn this bad feeling in his heart into something good and that he will never do the same to his children. Some of the parents said that they have not been able to sleep peacefully all the years their child has been in prison, but that day they could sleep in peace knowing where their child was sleeping and knowing he was in this program. At the end Precious (one of the boys) stood high on a box in the cell and preached to all the families, boys, wardens and AIS staff – and he prayed one of the most powerful prayers I have ever heard. God moved beyond our expectations – the boys will never be the same after this day and neither will we.
Please don't pass up this opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of children throughout Africa.
Thank you for your investment that will last a lifetime for children without hope!
Sincerely,
Daphne
