Welcome to our fundraising page. My name is Daryl Parrish. On behalf of our son, Daniel, and all of the children diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), I am running the 2010 Boston Marathon. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for Duchenne research, along with making as many people aware of this genetic disorder as possible.
All donations will go to Cure Duchenne, a non-profit, parent-run foundation which is currently funding some of the most promising research and clinical trials in the world. These trials are among the most likely candidates to save Daniel's life, as well as thousands of boys around the world. Without a cure or treatment, the life expectancy of a Duchenne boy is late teens to early twenties. It is 100% fatal with no exceptions.
"In a moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing to do. The worst thing you can do is nothing" - Theodore Roosevelt
Please donate. There is no other way we can fight this horrible genetic disorder. Your donation WILL make a difference. Six years ago, Cure Duchenne provided seed money for a little known research project with a small company in the Netherlands called Prosensa. Now, six years later, Prosensa is in the advanced stages of a clinical trial with the most promising therapy to save Daniel's life. Donations made back then paved the way for us to have hope for today. Your donations today can make a difference in Daniel's tomorrow.
You can also become a $100/Mile Sponsor. Your $100 donation will help fill up the marathon course. The first donation of $200 or more gets Mile 21 and the legendary Heartbreak Hill:
