AIDS Ride for Life 2011
Summer has really arrived in Ithaca which means I have been training for the 2011 Southern Tier(STAP) AIDS Ride for Life on 10 September. This will be my fifth ride; previous rides have been truly inspirational and I am looking forward to this year and training for the day.
Many of you know that the Ride for Life is an annual event to raise money for AIDS work here in the Souther Tier of New York. I will ride 100 miles around Cayugs Lake with Adam and the members of Team Felicia--we are all working hard to raise money for STAP.
STAP's mission is to provide effective and innovative HIV/AIDS prevention, education, and outreach services to individuals and communities, as well as caring services to people with HIV/AIDS, in our region.
With the very recent news that a new medical protocal has been developed which promises to halt the spread of AIDS, some people assume the epidemic is over. IT IS NOT. New York State has the largest number of AIDS cases in the United States. AIDS is NYS's #2 killer of adults 25-44 years old. There is still much work to be done.
I am riding ro raise money so that the work can continue and to give hope and support to the hundreds of people who struggle with HIV and AIDS in our community. All the money raised stays in our region to support STAP.
Your support is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your generosity.
