Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Those of you who know me are aware that I was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease (HD) in September 2010. Although I was certainly not ready to, I retired in May 2011 because of the effects of HD. If I could have, I would have continued to teach band forever.
It is important to me to do everything I can to help cure HD or at least find an effective treatment so others will not face the decision I had to face. For that reason, I created this page to provide a place for you to join my effort if you are able to.
The Team Hope Walk at the greenway at Shelby Park on August 25 is one way to join the fight against HD. The purpose of this page (and the H Cubed Team - Hale's Huntington's Heroes) is to raise money to support research and family services for people who have Huntington's Disease. In addition to research and family support, the funds raised by the walk will provide community educational events and advocacy for HD patients.
You can support the Team Hope HD Walk by coming to Shelby Park on August 25 before the 9:30 start (registration begins at 8:30) and walking about a mile on the greenway with others who support curing/treating/helping people who have HD. There is no entry fee. You can just contribute whatever amount you are able to donate. If you want, you can create your own fundraising page and collect donations.
If you cannot attend the walk, you can still donate to HDSA. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to help raise funds to fight HD.
Thanks for your support -- and please forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
