Hi Everyone,
Most of you know what Pets on Wheels mean to Buddy and I. For those who don't, let me explain it a little.
Pets on Wheels is a not for profit organization which provides friendly visits from volunteers and their pets to those requiring the support of an institutional setting. Visits are most often to nursing homes; however, assisted living communities and facilities for the physical and mentally challenged are also recipients of our visits. Recently, Veterans’ hospitals, programs for the homeless, and children at risk of home out placement have also been added to our visits. Our emphasis is on residents who have been unresponsive to ongoing activities. Many of these patients have impaired cognitive abilities due to specific illness such as Alzheimer’s disease, and react to animals with more awareness than to people around them. For instance, repetitive speech behavior or annoying mannerisms may cease while a patient is petting an animal.
Buddy and I haven't been visiting for the last couple months because of Buddy's hips. He's lost a little bit of weight...he's feeling better...hopefully better enough to get rescreened in Aug or Sept. We both miss visiting!
On October 2nd we will be holding our 5th annual Dog-A-Thon, at Oregon Ridge Park, in Cockeysville, Maryland. The Dog-a-thon is our annual event that keeps us running throughout the year.
Buddy and I will be walking at 11am. We hope that you will be able to join us for our walk and become part of our team, Pawisitively Fun!
Donating through Frist Giving is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most effcient way to support Buddy and I,and hopefully you too.
Thanks so much for your support - and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
