Dawn & Jay Cobak's Fundraising Page
Hi there! Jay and I are I are running the Falmouth Road Race in August to raise money for the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism.
Our 5 1/2 year old son Jake was diagnosed with autism 4 years ago, and without the support of agencies like the Flutie Foundation, he would not be where he is today. The Flutie Foundation supports families in need, they fund education and research into the causes of autism, and they serve as a communications center for new programs and services for children with autism.
Autism is the most common of the Pervasive Developmental Disorders, affecting an estimated 1 in 76 boys. Roughly translated, this means as many as 1.5 million Americans today are believed to have some form of autism. And this number is on the rise. Based on statistics from the U.S. Department of Education and other governmental agencies, autism is growing at a startling rate of 10-17 percent per year. At this rate, the ASA estimates that the prevalence of autism could reach 4 million Americans in the next decade.
Our goal is to raise $1,000 and we hope you can help us! Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Thanks so much! The Cobak Family
