T "Rex" story begins last September when reports in the area of Acton were being made that -2- hounds were running loose and had been dumped. No reliable sightings were made until Sherry Simek saw the two in late December.
A local family, The Rudd's had moved into their newly built home, and on the day that SHerry saw them run onto the Rudd's property, we were called to come help wrangle. Scared and reported to be very skinny, no sighteinings were made that day, or in any susequent visits. These canines were very elusive.
Today the call came in. The brown one that the Rudd children had been calling "Rex", had gone down and one of the smallest rescuer's I have ever seen was able to leash tie Rex to a juniper bush and go back to tell his Mom. We were called immediately and responded within minutes.
Rex is now 11 hours into rescue on 3/3/11, has eaten several small meals, per our veterinarian isntructions we are adding vitamin B, protein, probiotic, subQ and enzymes. It's very touch and go for Rex, he is not as dehydrated as he should be, and he has an appetite although we have to keep meals small. Urine & Fecal have passed and organs are currently functioning.
He is so thin that his breed identification is hard to make at this point, a mastiff mix, maybe a fila mix - it's unclear. One thing we know for sure, this boy will need alot if he is to get better.
Food, medications, fluids, supplements, enzymes not to mention blood work, xrays, one day if prayers are answered there wil need to be a neuter, shots and dental - the costs could skyrocket. At this point we're setting the limit for immediate needs as the future is unknown. We can only help save these cases if donors are found and support our work by making a donation. Every penny counts, and currently that is what we are doing - counting pennies.
Please donate to help the vet care budget for Rex - forward this page via facebook, twitter, email - this boy needs help, we can do the legwork but your help is needed to pay his bills!
