I would like to  thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the support and encouragement that you have given me over the years.

This year it's #21 with Lupus yippie right?  Ok, not so much.  My Lupus 'career' has been all over the charts, joints, blood, heart, lungs, skin, eyes, and brain.  I won't  bore you all with repeats of my stories and hospitalizations most of you are pretty familiar with them.

As most of you know I'm all about participating in research and Lupus Awareness.  To do this  myself and my Family/Friends will be participating in the Lupus Alliance Annual Walk for Lupus, Saturday September, 24th.  We always have a good time, it's out at Metrobeach Metropark so the sights are pretty good too.  Last year it was a miracle, blessing, magic or all 3 together but my team raised an amazing $1,845.00  WOW, yeah no kidding!!!!!!  I don't know if there is any chance of meeting that this year but I would like to try for at least $1,000 as a team.

As for actually walking, I may be slow, but with my Oxygen tank and comfy shoes I'm going as far as I can. (NO I will not use a wheelchair!).  I would like to invite you to participate by joining my team and/or raising money for the17th Annual Walk. 

I understand that times are tough I know we are all counting pennies, if you can only give a few bucks it is greatly appreciated and it will be put to good use (every bit adds up).  Your past donations have helped make it possible for the 1st new treatment for Lupus in 50 years- Benlysta.

** Benlysta/Research update:  Benlysta was the drug study that I participated in a few years ago and this past May it was finally approved by the FDA (WOO HOO).  Hospitals all over the US are getting ready to administer the new treatment.  Pharmacists are learning to mix and infusion nurses to administer.  This will be a IV drug that is given once a month.  I have already filled out the paperwork with my insurance and have been approved for a "injection of unclassified drug" I don't care what they call it just give it to me!
