Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!  Whether it's a friend, a family member, or neighbor down the street, we almost all know someone with Down syndrome. Like us, many of you have been personally touched by the lives of these individuals. We're proud to be part of the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin's Prenatal Medical Outreach Program because it means so much to us and to our family.

Companies, like Sequenom and Verinata are pursuing a multi-billion dolar market that will change the practice of medicine in the early stages of pregnancy, for as many as 4 million women who give birth in the US each year.  Traditional prenatal blood screens that look for biomarkeres are notoriously undreliable at detecting Down syndrome.  Other invasive tests have a risk of miscarriage that many women prefer to avoid.  Today companies like Verinata say their tests can tell with startling accuracy when a developing fetus has Down syndrome.
