The Ronald McDonald House of Central Georgia has been a true blessing to our family!  At 27 weeks into my pregnancy, and not one complication until that point, I found myself at the hospital experiencing some discomfort.  Little did I know that I would have a set of 2 pound boy/girl twins that night!  The twins were sent to the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, GA - 100 miles away from home; and that's where we spent our next 101 days!

The RMH was truly a "home away from home" for us!  They encourage their guests to visit with each other so that we could support each other emotionally.  There are so many emotions you experience in situations like these, but each family there can lean on someone who very well may be experienceing a similar situation.  Even sometimes hearing the stories of other families made us thankful even for our situtation that we were going through.  Meals were provided by volunteers each and every night.  There was always a fully stocked kitchen, laundry room, and a peaceful, relaxed environment in the family area.  All this in an effort to take care of us while our children were being cared for in the hospital.  Any little thing that could be done to make our life easier was done - not to mention the life-long friends that we made with not only some of the families residing at the RMH but with the staff as well.

Now, almost 8 years later, I will be running my first 1/2 marathon with some of my closest friends!  The 9 of us - Sole Sisters - have decided to run in honor of my "Home Away from Home."  100% of the money raised on our Sole Sisters pages will go directly toward the building fund to build a second RMH facility to house pediatric cancer patients as well as long term NNICU families such as ours.

Beginning January 1st I will be logging all miles that I run as I train for the Disney Princess Half Marathon!  My husband and I will be personally donating $1 for every mile that I run while training for and COMPLETING this half marathon on February 26, 2012!!!  Please join me in donating to a cause that means so much to our family!!
