The Madronas K-8 Girl Scouts are proud to be Participating in the 1st annual

  Water 1st 5K Walk for Water.

 We are happy to help give women and their girls the opportunity to attend school instead of spending 3-5 hours per day collecting water while their brothers go to school.

    At our last meeting, we had the girls try carrying 5 gallons of water(40 pounds)on their backs, I think it really gave them insight into what  people in other countries have to go through. They were shocked to hear that there are people who dont just go to a faucet in the kitchen. They were also relieved to hear that they only have to carry one gallon(8 pounds) during the walk!
