I have been a supporter of Minneapolis-based American Refugee Committee since 2004, when I decided to be part of the solution for people who had lost everything in the tsunami.  They found a way to replace fishing boats for $500 each, allowing people to get back to earning a living and supporting themselves.

I recently decided I wanted to do more than donate funds as ARC works to help the people of  Haiti.  ARC has found a way to build simple shelters, using local workers, for $1,000 each.  As the rainy season approaches, thousands are without basic shelter.  In addition to my regular support to ARC, I want to help raise awareness of the good work they are doing and ask my community to help buildi as many shelters as possible for people who have nothing.  Please check out ARC's website, they update it regularly.   I appreciate your interest and support!
