Help Bring Kai Home
Gift of Adoption is a national charitable organization that inspires adoption by providing grants to qualified parents – giving children who need families a permanent home and a chance to thrive.
Through our Firstgiving page we are working with a public charity, Gift of Adoption, to raise the funds necessary to give Kai a permanent home and the chance to thrive.
Kai is 2 ½ years old and lives in an orphanage in China. He was born with a cleft lip and abandoned shortly after birth. He’s had surgery to partially repair his cleft lip and needs additional surgery to complete the repair. He suffers from malnutrition, anemia and growth delays common to children in institutional care. Kai’s caretakers say he’s very active, curious, restless and clever. He loves listening to music, going outdoors, and most of all, being carried.
My mom and I can’t do anything about the hardships Kai has experienced, but we can do something about what lies ahead. Kai has this one life. We want his life to be better, filled with the dignity that comes from being a part of a family, with what he needs to develop and learn, and with friends and loved ones to carry him in the small and the significant ways children need to be carried so they can grow strong into adulthood. A family can give Kai this and much more.
With your help, the goal of giving Kai a better life can be real. Our collective $3,500 gift to the Gift of Adoption Fund will make it possible for Kai’s adoption to be complete – uniting him with his hopeful parents Scott and Christine. If we are blessed to raise the $3,500 to fund Kai’s adoption, any additional funds will be used to support a domestic adoption that will keep or unite siblings together – so they can grow up as part of the same family.

This year the Gift of Adoption fund will provide adoption grants to help 100 children, half of whom were born right here in the United States. Highest priority is given to grants that keep siblings together; prevent children from entering into or aging-out of the foster care system or an orphanage; or allow children with severe medical conditions, like Kai, to get the medical care they so desperately need.
