Happy New Year All!
Friends of mine from my childhood, Steve McQueen, and his wife, Angie have a daughter, Brianna that has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. She is is a precious 8 year old who was stricken with this condition a little over a year ago. I am proud to have been chosen by Steve to participate on the task force for the 2012 Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation Ride For Kids on September 9th.
I first became aware of Bri's condition last December when Steve and Angie reached out for prayers. I saw her for the first time in February at a local fundraiser. You could tell that she had undergone some treatment and that she was not feeling her best but at that time, she was still up and running around, almost like most healthy 7 year olds!
The next time I saw Bri, except for the pictures we see on Facebook, was September 11th at last year’s Ride For Kids. Wow! What a difference a few months makes when you are dealing with such a devastating disease! It was at that time, listening to the speakers and getting to meet some of the kids that have been suffering with this condition that I decided I wanted to do anything I could to help fight this!
These kids need our help! I am asking that you might be able to find it in your heart to make a donation to this foundation and the Indianapolis Ride for Kids event through this website. Not only will the PBTF be given the donation, but Bri and our team will be recognized as well! Any help that you can give would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to ask that anyone that is able to give to this great cause, do so on Tori McQueen's page: http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/tori-mcqueen/. Tori is Bri's older sister that has set a personal goal for this ride of $5,000. Last year she raised over $1,200 just going from door to door and asking everyone she knew. I would love for us to be able to help Tori reach her goal!
Steve has been chosen as the Task Force Leader for the Indy Ride for kids and this is his first year heading up the ride so it is our goal to make this the best one ever...not just here in Indy but everywhere! Please help us make this a reality~
If you would like to read more about Princess Brianna McQueen's story, her dad has created a blog that tell's her story! Be prepared for tissues and for your heart to be overcome with emotion as you read their story....I highly recommend it! Here is the link: http://lovingbri.wordpress.com/
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to partipate in the Ride for Kids with us this year! The link for that event is: http://www.pbtfus.org/rideforkids/events/2012/indianapolis.html
Thanks to you all for taking the time to read about Bri and about our mission to help these kids and to hopefully find it in your hearts to help us monetarily!
