POLICE UNITY TOUR OF FLORIDA INCORPORATED

Police Unity Tour 2009
Training buddies: Kimberly Martin & April Lawless

WildlifeOfcMichelleLawless' Page ride for Police Unity Tour

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

On October 27, 2007 Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission Wildlife Officer Michelle Lawless was killed in the Florida Everglades while on patrol for poachers.

Several folks road in the 2008 Police Unity Tour in her memory. This year family of Wildlife Officer Michelle Lawless would like to ride in memory of Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) Lt. Joseph Andrew Martyna, EOW: November 18, 2008. Although Lt. Martyna did not die in-the-line of duty we are remembering him. We are also riding for Seargent Monty Carmikle, Arkansas Fish & Game, EOW: Nov. 2008.

The information about the Police Unity Tour is listed here. Please help to support us in our efforts to remember the fallen.

POLICE UNITY TOUR ®

The Police Unity Tour Incorporated was formed in 1997 by a group of law enforcement officers from New Jersey who rode their bicycles from Florham Park, New Jersey to Washington, D.C. For the past twelve years, law enforcement officers nationwide have ridden the 300 plus mile trip, with the purpose of raising awareness and financial support for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. The Police Unity Tour has grown from 18 members to over 1100 nationwide who make the annual trip. Because of their efforts and your generosity, over 5.6 million dollars has been donated to the Memorial, making the Police Unity Tour the single largest supporter of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

We are proud of our accomplishments. You can be proud too, knowing that you are committed to this worthy cause. The Police Unity Tour is a non-profit organization under section 501© (3) of the Internal Revenue code, therefore, donations made to the Police Unity Tour are fully tax deductible. With your help the Police Unity Tour to continues to be the largest supporter of the Memorial as well as a founding partner in the National Law Enforcement Museum, which is scheduled to break ground in 2009.

We remember these true heroes each year with a 250 mile bicycle trek from the Tidewater area of  Virginia to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC.  This event takes place every May 10th, 11th & 12th, the days preceeding National Peace Officers Memorial Day (May 15th).  On May 10th, the Virginia Chapter (4) is joined by the Florida Chapter (8) and the Southern California Chapter (7) and together begin the trip as one.  This year our Send-Off Ceremony took place on Saturday, May 10, 2008, at High Street Landing in the City of Portsmouth.  Over the course of the 3 day bicycle trek we wind our way through the Commonwealth of Virginia on our way to Washington, DC, where we come together with the remaining chapters riding from the North.  As one UNIFIED group we all pedal our bicycles to the grounds of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

For donations of $1000.00 or more, Sponsors will receive a commemorative gift signifying their commitment and their corporation or family name will appear on our support trailers, which accompany us on each leg of our trip and tend to be in the media spotlight.
