Please help me raise money for all the
houndies of Suncoast Basset Rescue.
If I have to beg I will I am good at that but if you
read my story maybe you will agree I am deserving
of the title.of King
So here is my story,
Animal control picked me up a skinny red and white basset hound about five months old after I was hit by a car.
I, was taken to Hillsbough Animal Shelter on August 23, 2007 with non weight bearing on right rear leg femur area swollen paw knuckled under, and broken pelvis. I was going to put sleep, but a woman who worked at the shelter saw this skinny basset that was hurt and not moving around in his cage was scared and was just looking at her with his eyes as if asking for her to help him. She told them that this basset they were going to try to help and didn't want him to be put to death.
The woman at the Shelter contacted Suncoast Basset Rescue, and they agreed to help me out. , I was taken to the Veterinary Surgical Services, on August 27 , 2007. At this time, this I was being called Norton. The shelter named me Norton after Norton on the honeymooners.
They did an evaluation on August 27, 2007 of a distal right femur fracture (Salter Harris Type 1). In addition a caudal acetabular / schial fracture was present. They repaired the fracture using open reduction and internal fixation with four pin's two metal and two laterals. They conservatively managed the acetabular fracture.
I was on exercise restrictions for 8-10 weeks.
I was placed in a very good foster home where I got the care I needed while I was recovering. They made sure I felt like a part of the family, even if I couldn't play with the other dogs because of my restrictions., They took great care of me gave me lots of tender loving care.
On September 11, 2007 the sutures were removed, and I was healing well and using my leg.
The woman responsible for Adoptions told the foster home I was going to be adopted by Debbie who would be my new slave, and I would have a wonderful home I would have a pool to swim in which would be good for my leg. So when I was cleared from the vet and neutered I would be adopted.
October 15, 2007 I went to have X-rays taken of my leg and the bone was well-healed pins grown into bone.
October 18, 2007 I went back to the vet for a pre surgical exam, so I could be neutered and the surgery was done, and I was now well enough to move to my forever home and start my new life.
So finally the day came October 27 , 2007 ,Norton said his goodbyes to his foster parents and got into his new slaves vehicle and went to sleep for the 2-hour trip home.my name was changed to JB to honor my new moms BJ, who went to the bridge. She just reversed the letters in BJ's name, so that is how I got my name.
You would never know what happen to me before I was adopted if nobody told you about it because I show no signs of being so close to death I only has a small scar on my leg. I don't even have a limp, But I have a cute little wiggle, and who doesn't want a wiggle. And I am as fast as a jack rabbit and such a trusting boy. I am just so glad that I was saved and the woman from the shelter was correct she said she saw something special about me, and she was correct I am special to alot of people I bring so much joy into so many lives. I am so glad that there are rescue groups out there to help animals in need like me King JB.
I have been in my forever home with my slave Debbie Wood and have been here three wonderful years now. I am always out trying to spread the word about Suncoast Basset Rescue so that they can help other hounds like they did me. Don't you think hounds deserve that second chance like I was given I do.
Hounds like me can be given this chance if Suncoast Basset Rescue has the funds to help them so please I am begging you please help me rasie some money to help hounds in need it is my way of paying back what everyone did for me. I wouldn't be here today if there was no funds to have helped me .What a waste of cuteness that would have been. So please donate even if only a dollar I know times are bad for alot of people but remember how hard it is for all us hounds when we are sick and have nobody to love. Every dollar counts
