My name is Ruby and I am a 4-year-old female RottweiIer. I have experienced a lot in my short life. I must have belonged to someone at some point in time because I am well behaved, and can do lots of tricks. (Anything for a treat!) Recently I found myself at the pound. My days were numbered, but since I am so outgoing and loving, the staff took pity on me, and Circle L came to my rescue. With only hours to spare, I was saved from euthanasia. Phew!
I found myself with a foster family with two small children and another rescued dog. It was so nice to have a soft dog bed and regular meals. They even gave me some medicine that eases the pain in my hips.
Unfortunately, I have a series of medical issues that need treatment. Lucky for me the vet says my prognosis is good if I get the proper health care.
Most urgently, I have been diagnosed with heartworm. This is a rare condition in Arizona that is spread via mosquito, and can cause damage to the heart, and in very extreme cases, embolisms. My heart is healthy, but I require Immiticide injections into my deep muscle. Because this is a painful injection, I will need sedation and pain management medicines.
Once I recover from this, I need to be treated for my severe hip dysplasia. Though I am young, I have already developed arthritis and lots of bone spurs in my hips that make it hard to walk, play, and sometimes even stand. This is a progressive disease that will only get worse as I get older.
My foster family has found me a great vet that can perform a surgery called FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy). It will add many years to my life and relieve a great deal of pain.
Since I am young and healthy, my doctors think it’s important to fix me right away to ensure that I am strong enough to make a full recovery. All of these medical needs are expensive, and I am going to need help from a lot of people to make it a reality. The surgery and the heartworm treatments will cost over $3,500.
I have finally found a family that will love and care for me forever. Please help me raise money to help them with my medical needs. It is my only chance at a long, pain free life!!!
Please consider making an emergency donation and help us provide this pet the medical attention she requires. The total cost of the surgery (at a discounted rate) is $3,000. The heartworm diagnosis and treatment will be and additional $500. Any amount will help.
While we know that the economy is challenging, we also know that even a small (tax-deductible!) donation of $1 - $5 will assist in providing a lifetime of happiness for this pup.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.
