Kitten season came with its usual velocity this year. Jax, Jill, & Jenny were found at 14 days old in a box on a street corner. Saint, a young kitten, was trapped at a local convent with severe bite wounds on his back which had become infected. He was in terrible pain. Claire and Linc, beautiful kittens, were found floating in a dam. All are healthy now, and in their forever home.
These are just a few of our kitten stories – we strive to get our kittens adopted so that they don’t have to grow up in a shelter. During kitten season, however, we feel sorry for the adults that get overlooked again and again.
Our hope is that all of our adult cats will soon find safety, comfort and love in their own home. Our strongest hope of finding homes is for those who have previously been adopted out, and for reasons beyond their control had to be returned to us. It is heartbreaking to watch the pain and confusion on their faces as they try to understand what happened to that safety and security. Many times we see these particular cats become depressed and almost give up. We know they could be “fixed” if that special person walks in one day and takes them home.
Some examples of these would be Josephine & Rebecca, two sweet young cats whose owner had no time for them….Josephine sits and waits, and poor tiny Rebecca was being tormented by some of our cats, so much so that our vet offered to take her at her office. Holly, a senior cat had to be returned because her owner had health issues and could no longer care for her. Dusty & Pinky, two seniors were returned because their owner passed away, and just the other day we had to pick up Keyona from a home where her owner passed away. She had been adopted out months after her first owner died, and now she is back with us again. Unfortunately her owner never let us know that she was hospitalized back in April, and poor Keyona was left alone, other than once a day when a friend came by to feed her. Being a very shy cat, she became even more so, and her beautiful long hair is matted so badly that she is in pain. Our Keyona will need a lot of love and patience in the coming months.
Angel PAWS is unable to do what we do without your financial support. We know that times are tough, but ask that if it is possible, would you be able to help us once again? We appreciate anything you can give.
