Update - Luke will be staying permanently with one of the vets on his case. All money raised to date will be used to pay the vet bills for his care.
As many of you are aware, these are tough times for everyone. The state of the economy has affected individuals and organizations across the country. This also has had an impact on charitable donations and unfortunately our shelter is one of those organizations impacted by this.
Recently on of our “residents”, Luke, began having issues which turned out to be a URI (urinary tract infection). The vet also found a large number of crystals in his bladder which cause him a lot of pain. Luke is a young cat, approximately a year old, with an unbelievably good personality and an excellent chance of finding a forever home when his recent medical issues are resolved.
We just found out that Luke may need perineal urethrostomy (PU) surgery. Perineal urethrostomy is the procedure that is done to make a new opening in the urethra. The procedure is most commonly done in male cats that suffer from Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) and to bypass an obstruction of the urethra. This surgery is estimated to cost around $2,000. As with any estimate, it can cost more depending on various factors. In addition, his vet bills to date, due to this problem, are quite costly.
If you have an extra $5 to $10, please consider giving something to help Luke. If you prefer to send a check, please make the check payable to Angel PAWS and write “Luke” in the memo section. Checks can be sent to Angel PAWS, PO Box 282, Colonia NJ 07067.
