**Update Tuesday 6/6...This morning at 5am Leroy passed on his own at the vets office. We are all in shock, since he had been showing signs of improvement, but during the night the virus began attacking his red blood cells aggressively and he could not fight it and the vet said there was nothing they could do to reverse it at that point. They tried very hard to save him with a plasma transfusion the day before in the hopes of boosting his chances, but his case was especially severe.
This such a shame, because most times it is a disease they can survive, and it was caught early. I'm so sorry to have to give such sad news... The vet assured me he was made comfortable and had pain medication, so he did not suffer. She felt he went peacefully. We will be getting an individual cremation and his ashes will be given to a family who offered to help and was waiting and hoping to take him into their home.
For his short time with us, he definitely was loved and had happy times before this took him. Thank you to everyone who helped with donations and prayers.
Sincerely,
Lisa Maturo

**Update Monday 6/5...Leroy is continuing to show improvements, as of 10pm tonight. He is drinking water on his own without vomiting and hasn't had diarrhea for two whole hours, which is a big improvement compared to yesterday. He is still not interested in eating on his own. Hopefully if the vomiting and diarrhea subside and he starts to eat and drink on his own more, he can be transferred to home care!! We are praying that happens within the next day or two.

Leroy was abandoned by his owners after they found out he had Parvo and they didn't want to pay the high vet bills associated with treating it. Most puppies survive parvo if they are treated quickly with fluid therapy at a vet hospital. We couldn't let Leroy die from lack of care, so our rescue took him to the vets for treatment.
Right now he is at an emergency vets getting 24 hour care, and the cost of treatment is roughly $600-800 a day to keep him on IV fluids, antibiotics and other medications. As of 5am this morning (Monday June 5th), they said he was a little better and actually wagged his tail. We are anticipating at least another 2-4 days of treatment needed in the 24 hour Vets, and the cost is going to be at least $2000 at this point to save him.
Please consider donating to Leroy's fund. He's a sweet little puppy and he deserves to get the treatment he needs!! Our rescue does not have the funds available to cover the care he needs, but we did not want to let him die, so we have arranged with the vets to give us a few days to do some fundraising!
We expect Leroy to make a full recovery since he is getting the treatment he needs and is making progress. Please also consider giving this special little guy a great home...he is now 13 weeks old and is a super adorable mix of beagle and who knows what!! Leroy deserves a home who will commit to him through thick and thin, and not abandon him when times get tough!
Thank you for helping us help Leroy.
Sincerely,
Lisa
