**UPDATE 4/16/07... Tazz continues to do very well in his recovery. His appetite has improved and he's acting completely normal and back to his normal self!! He loves to go places with me, including work, and visit with all the people there. He's a very happy, outgoing boy. Thank you to all who donated to his bill, it helps SO much.
UPDATE**4/13/07 Fri....Tazz is doing great!! He's home with me now and his appetite is much much better. He's acting like his normal self completely now, playing with his stuffed toys (he just holds them in his mouth and walks around) and enjoying our short walks. He is getting super spoiled in recovery.... gets to come with me everywhere, to work and on errands, etc. He's with me all the time and gets lots of attention!!
We are having a yard sale in N Scottsdale this Saturday (tomorrow) and Tazz will be there with me, if anyone would like to stop by and see him. Call us if you want directions....480-233-0092

**UPDATE**4/11/07 Weds...I had to leave Tazz at our vet's last night for observation. He finally ate something late yesterday and when I called at 11pm to check on him again he was holding it down. No more vomiting.
Today I went to visit him around noon and he was so perky and happy! He really seemed back to his normal self. He ate in the morning and again at noon and has been holding down food and water. He will come home with me later this afternoon. I'm so happy he's doing better, I was very worried about him not eating and throwing up even his water. It may have been all the pain meds and things he was on after surgery that were upsetting to his stomach too. Whatever the case, he's back to his normal self and everyone at the vet office loves him!!
Thanks again for all the ongoing support for him.

**UPDATE**4/10/07 Tues.....Yesterday I went to visit Tazz in ICU recovery at ARECA and he seemed much perkier, was wagging his tail a lot and had his pheasant toy in his mouth when they brought him out to me. He ate a very small amount for me that afternoon. Later that evening they let me take him home. When he came out, he threw up the little bit he ate earlier...bummer!
Later that evening he threw up again...mostly water, since nothing was really in his stomach. He slept well through the night. I took him to work with me in the morning and he still wouldn't eat and was throwing up even the water he'd drink, so I called the regular vet we use for him (Dr Hoffman, an internal medicine specialist) and she kept him for the day to observe him. She felt it was probably just upset stomach, since after all he had it twisted up in a knot and then untwisted surgically! They're giving him some antinausea meds and hopefully he'll start to feel better soon. I am pretty sure I can take him home with me after work tonight.
The final bill for his surgery and hospitalization was $3848.79. Yikes!!
I'm still hopefully we can raise enough to pay it, since otherwise it greatly hinders our ability to stay afloat financially with our operating money used to save healthy dogs from death row at the shelters.
Thanks again for all your help! Please send this around to animal loving friends!!

_________________________TAZZ STORY_____________________________
Tazz is an older Dalmatian who came to our rescue after his owner became destitute, got evicted from the home, and abandoned Tazz and his younger Dalmatian mate, Tia, in the backyard for a week. Neighbors took care of them before contacting us. Since Tia was younger she got adopted right away. Tazz has been in foster care for the past few months.
This morning (Saturday) he was rushed to the emergency vet clinic due to a bloated abdomen and weakness. He has to have emergency surgery due to his stomach becoming twisted and it must be corrected immediately, as it is life-threatening. A special surgeon was called in and Tazz is about to have surgery at about 10am.
Tazz is a very special dog who has touched my heart very deeply. I have been personally fostering him for the past few months and have really fallen in love with him. He has the best personality ever-- he constantly wags his tail, is always happy no matter what and has amazing, bright personality. He loves stuffed animals and will carry them around in his mouth while wagging his tail. He's SO sweet!! Even when I was saying goodbye to him as they were getting him ready for the surgery, he was wagging his tail and seemed pretty happy, despite his grave condition. He is a VERY special dog.
Please help by donating to Tazz' fund. He is a very special sweet Dalmatian and deserves the best care.
Thank you so much for your help!!
Sincerely,
Lisa Maturo, LUCKY DOG RESCUE
