Please Help Fanny Receive Vet Care
**Update**Tuesday morning 7/1/08....Sorry to have to report that Fanny passed away last night. Her health problems were far worse than we initially thought. After x-rays they saw she had a very enlarged heart and late yesterday fluid entered her lungs and she started having trouble breathing. When she continued to decline and was very uncomfortable, we took the vet recommendation and helped her go to sleep. Thank you to all who donated, we really appreciate the opportunity to try and save her and we're glad we were at least able to help Fanny during her last days experience the comfort and care she deserved so she didn't have to suffer.
Fanny was a bright, happy, comical little dog who ran like a bunny rabbit and loved being with people. She got to experience love and attention from her foster home(s) with the Eberle family and they will all miss her very much too.
Sadly,
Lisa

Fanny is a 10 year old mini dachshund with a sweet, loving, happy personality. She was rescued from the county shelter when she was on the euthanasia list. Fanny has a mild case of valley fever, which was being treated, but now she has developed a disk problem in her back that caused her so much pain this weekend that she stopped eating and drinking, became dehydrated, and got extremely weak. Poor Fanny had to be hospitalized today at an emergency vet to be put on IV fluids and to receive pain management.
Today Fanny will be getting further bloodwork and x-rays to determine what can be done to make her more comfortable and to treat her back problem. Right now she cannot walk, her hind end is too painful, and she is hunched over. It's heartbreaking for her foster home and all who know her because she is such a happy, active little girl normally.
We would like to be able to provide Fanny with the vet care she needs to have back surgery and further hospitalization. We were given an estimate of over $1000 just to hospitalize her on IV fluids and for further diagnostics. Back surgery may be next, we are waiting to hear.
This is very difficult for the rescue because our funds are extremely limited right now, but we really do not want to have to give up on Fanny or put her to sleep just because of limited funds. However, we cannot afford extremely high vet bills either.
Can you help? Every little bit will help and we really appreciate it...
Please check back on this page for further updates on her condition as I talk more to the vet today and in the next days.
Thank you so much!!! Fanny thanks you for helping to save her life...
