Hello Friends and Family,
I hope everyone's doing well! I wanted to take a minute to tell you about a project I've been working on for the past few months.
I am participating in a youth event called Shack-a-thon that will be hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Orange County from April 21 to April 22, 2012. During the event, I will build a shack from cardboard and sleep outside in the shack on the public Green in Chapel Hill’s Southern Village, a large gathering place in Southern Chapel Hill.
Through my 4 years of working with Habitat for Humanity, I have been shocked to learn that hardworking families in my own town do not have access to safe, affordable housing. I am volunteering to leave the comfort of my home for one night to raise awareness and funds to help Habitat for Humanity respond to the need for decent shelter in my community.
As I join my classmates and friends for the Shack-a-thon, I am inviting you to partner with me. Will you help me to support this cause by financially sponsoring me during this event?
My goal is to raise $200 by March 31, 2012. Will you consider donating to help support my cause? You can click the green “Donate” link above or write a check to “Habitat for Humanity of Orange County” with my name and “Shack-a-thon” in the memo line (Address: 88 Vilcom Center Drive #L110, Chapel Hill, NC 27514). 100% of your gift will help build a home for a local family (and your gift is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.)
Thanks for reading, and thanks for being part of my life. I hope that after you make your gift you will also think of me on Saturday, April 21 (and wish for good weather and no rain!) Please call or email me with questions at any time, and thanks for stepping up to this challenge.
