This is our 4th year fundraising for TSC as a family. Thank you to all who have loyally supported Matthew since the 2005 event, and welcome those of you new to our efforts.

We set lofty fundraising goals because we believe the money raised for research and family support is making a difference. 

The run/walk has continued to grow and is becoming a familiar community event to those previously not familiar with TSC. Which means increased awareness for TSC!

Your support will help the Children’s Hospital Oakland, Jack and Julia TSC Clinic directly this year, which serves individuals and families with TSC both locally and from afar.

* The J & J TSC Center was founded with the understanding that the medical concerns and development of individuals with TSC are unique and therefore require specialized care.

* Research has shown that the learning disabilities and disorders of the brain, heart, lungs, kidneys and other organs experienced by people with TSC differ from similar conditions in those without this genetic disease. 

*  Progress has been made in potential treatment for tumor growth cessation/reduction, etc.

Matthew's progress in 2008-09:

·       Matthew is doing well, though in Oct 2008 he began having seizure activity for the first time ever and continues to have 1-5/day.  Even so, we are still very blessed, as they are usually mild seizures lasting only 30 seconds each to date.  The seizures are persistent little guys though!  Finding the medicine and dosages to stop them is still a challenge today, as each day passes.

·           YET: He gratefully remains on track developmentally and just proudly completed Kindergarten. He is adapting resiliently well to his lifestyle changes due to the onset of seizures.   The vast majority with TSC have so many more medical and developmental problems than Matthew.  Lets help them too.  If you'd like to form a team or join one, please follow webite links, or call me at 707-451-1559.

·    The onset of Matthew's seizures has heightened my personal determination, as his mom, to continue fundraising for TSC causes.  We are now living with the truth that advances in medical treatment and cures CAN change the course of Matthew's life, so lets get going!!
