As of August 4th, 29,000 children under the age of 5 have died. It is climbing as you read this. The U.N. says 640,000 Somali children are acutely malnourished as famine spreads through the Horn of Africa.

This crisis is very hard to read about as there is so much death and suffering going on every minute. We can't keep turning a blind eye to the suffering that is happening though.

The good news is... together, we can make a differences. We can do this one person and one dollar at a time.

If every person in the United States donated even one dollar...this would not be a crisis.

These countries don't have government assistance like we do in the United States.

You hear people talking about starving or being broke and I can't help but think that the majority of us really don't know what that truly feels like.  In the United States it really is only a figure of speech. For these families, it is not just a figure of speech. It is a part of their daily life. Most do not know if they will eat, drink or die every morning when they wake up. Every day they face this. This is not something we understand and I pray that we never do.

Yes... we do have children in the United States that are hungry and adults as well... we also have a government system that does no allow people to starve. We have so many churches and programs that will help people in need if they ask. 

They only have people like us....we have to help when we can and most of us can.

Don't buy that coffee just one day and you could donate around $4.00 which will feed four people for the day. 
 
Save that lunch trip one week and you could donate $6.00 or more and that will feed six people.

Don't buy that lotto ticket one day and you could change a life. 

Little things we can do to make a difference...it starts with each of us and it has to start now.
