On February 16th, 2008 I am going to be joining some of my insane colleagues here at Firstgiving in taking a plunge into the Atlantic ocean off Natasket Beach.

That's right, you heard correctly.  We are going swimming.  In the Atlantic.  In the middle of February.  It is for a very good cause, however:  Special Olympics Massachusetts.

I am doing this because I do believe that the program changes lives and promotes acceptance and inclusion within our communities.  Special Olympics athletes never pay a cent to participate in any of the 26 different sports offered, so we are teaming up to raise critical dollars to fund the year-round sports training and athletic competitions for athletes in Massachusetts with intellectual disabilities.

I need to raise at least $250 to plunge, but have set my goal at twice that amount.  Please do what you can to help me raise as much as I can for the over 9,800 athletes of Special Olympics Massachusetts.
