I hope you will consider the International Rescue Committee as a vehicle for your contributions in support of the people of Haiti.  The IRC has 76 years of experience supporting refugees, displaced people, and other victims of disaster, war and genocide.  They have an outstanding track record, directing at least 90 cents of every dollar it spends directly to relief programs.  My company is proud to the IRC's direct mail fundraising agency, and it has already raised more than $3.5 million for its relief efforts in Haiti.  The IRC is also a good organization to support generally, as it works in 42 countries, including Congo, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Gaza, often with little fanfare and and a long-term commitment.  It will likely continue its work in Haiti for many years, long after other agencies have moved on.
