Hello Everyone,
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! My name is Dennis Gossett and my 15 year old daughter has been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, commonly referred to as EDS. Shelby has always been active in sports until a year or so ago, which started with sever joint pain. Soon after, she was diagnosed with EDS hypermobility type.
At times, she gets upset because her new condition has limited her activity levels. No longer can Shelby play the two sports she loves, soccer and volleyball. Even going up stairs to her bedroom can be a struggle. Recently, we have had to provide a wheelchair for her if the family plans on doing a lot of walking during the day. This has been hard on a vibrate young teenage lady. However, she is a trooper and is not allowing EDS get her down.
As for me, she has been an inspiration. For a long time, I have been taking movement and health for granted. So now, I run for her and others who suffer from all types and forms of EDS. I ask that you please help me raise money for research, education, and hopefully a cure for EDS. Because, not only is it painful but it can be deadly.
On Sunday November 4th, 2012, I will be running the Rex Healthcare Half Marathon in Raleigh, NC. This will be my first half in a very long time. With your help and Shelby's support, we all can make a difference one step at a time.
You can make donations through this website. It is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
I also invite you to check out my blog page www.pastordennisgossett.blogspot.com, where I will be posting updates on how training is going - plus a few other things.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
