I've been wanting to volunteer with Simply Smiles for a very long time, but never truly had the opportunity until now. 

If I raise enough money for this trip, I'll be able to travel to the Cheyenne River Souix Reservation in South Dakota and take part in volunteering and supporting the incredible children and families that call the Rez home. Through charity work and support, the Reservation has already seen massive improvements, but it still needs help.

Alcoholism and suicide are major issues on Native American Reservations these days. Suffering from poverty and poor living conditions, the Reservation is in pretty bad shape. But Simply Smiles is commited to a vision to "curtail suicides, provide basic needs, give children an alternative to the dangers of the streets, preserve and cultivate the rich Lakota culture and provide bright futures for these impoverished children." 

There will also be a guitar camp for the children of the Reservation. Sadly, one of the children signed up for the camp recently commited suicide. His guitar was already bought and now we are faced with another horrible realization of the effects of poverty and the lifelong struggle that these children have to face. Being a guitar player myself, I would love to take part in the camp and put smiles on the faces of kids who don't see as much joy in their lives as they should and help to prevent such tragedies.

Simply Smiles is an amazing organization and I would love to contribute to their cause and help make the Reservation a better place. I will be forever grateful to those of you who donate and/or spread awareness of this great organization and help make my dream of helping those in need a reality.
