Update 4/15
Peoples...there are 4 days to the Marathon. I'm starting to get nervous. Any words of wisdom or motivation would be much appreciated.
On to business:
On Saturday 4/17 at midnight, so I guess technically Sunday 4/18, the beard sweepstakes ends.
My brother, Katy Jensen and a silent partner are currently in the lead with $340, so you have two days to combine your totals and top $340 for the right to shave my face into any shape you want.
I was thinking I might do a progression:
Miles 1-6: Full Beard
7-13: Goatee/mustache
13-20: Fu Manchu
20-26: Soul patch
It's not up to me though, so get right in there.
Also, you have all day Sunday to donate and pick songs for me, so dive right in.
Thanks everyone for your incredible generosity and I hope I see many of you along the route on Monday!
Update 1/5
Ok, it's official, I'm growing a beard for the Marathon and here's the deal:
Top donor or group of donors (that's right, you can team up) gets to decide what formation I shave my face into for race day. I'm thinking waxy-old-timey mustache will be the way to go, but it's not my call.
So far it's "2 cheesdogs, coke, starburst" leading the way at $250. Get organized and beat him people!
A word on training. It's freezing outside. I ran 3 last night and almost killed myself on ice about 30 times. Rough. But hey, that's what I signed up for.
I've picked up ANOTHER running buddy:
Emily Knight is running for the Melanoma Foundation. Curing cancer...I think that one's worth it.
Update 12/26:
New thing thanks to my friend Sam Hammar.
For every $25 you donate you get to pick one song for my marathon playlist.
Also, I've picked up four running buddies.
1. Lil Jojo Pasquale is running for the Curley School in Jamaica Plain.
2. Caroline who's looking for a charity number. Help her out! She might run for ReadBoston.
3. Graham Doerge, who's training in Florida and running for ReadBoston. It's way easier to run in FL than in winter in Boston so I'm both jealous and planning to beat him down in the actual race.
4. My good friend Chris Reilly, who's training for a half marathon in May.

Friends and family,
Welcome to my ReadBoston Marathon 2010 Fundraising Page.
I'm running the 2010 Boston Marathon for a great cause. ReadBoston provides support to the Boston Public School to ensure that all students read at grade level by the end of 3rd grade. Among other things, they have a great program called Storymobile, which distributes library books to kids all around Boston all summer long.
Their mission is to help kids learn to read so that they can read to learn.
I am committed to raising $3,500 for this excellent and important organization, so I need all the support you can muster. Every little bit will count during my 6am winter runs in the freezing cold. So, please consider giving anything from $1 up.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts.
Also, please be sure to forward this page to anyone you think might be interested.
Thanks and see you along the route on April 19th!
