Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I have worked in the mental health and developmental disability field for almost 15 years now. Through those years, I have worked daily with people with Autism. Despite all that time and the many learning opportunities I have had, it never ceases to amaze me how your perspective changes in an instant once your family is directly effected by something. Autism or anything like it was nothing that our family had dealt with or really even thought of, I don't think.
My brother and sister-in-law are amazing parents who have 4 amazing children. All of them have such gifts and are thriving in their lives. Despite the many hurdels that there are in life, they're family is a sucess story. Not only are they raising twins, (WOW - pretty sure I could not do that) but also add into that a diagnosis of Autism (DOUBLE WOW).
Eli has taught us all so much (and not just about Poke-mon and Transformers)! His smile and sense of humor are hysterical. His songs and lyrics are instant show stoppers!! He has given us all patience that I am not sure that we ever had before and he makes you stop and realize all of your blessing, no matter the size. Eli, however, has also has been blessed by 2 parents who are so dedicated and present in his day to day life. Dan and Lori have a great deal to do with all of Eli's sucess.
Through continued research, education and building continued public awareness, I am sure that we can increase the amount of sucess stories for persons effected by Autism. Please help us do this. Each little bit helps!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. You can also write a check to the AUTISM SOCIETY OF MAINE, and give that to me to add to our efforts if you prefer not to donate online.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! It is an AWESOME cause!!!
