I am excited to be honoring the 20th anniversary of the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition's Against the Tide event by participating for the 13th year in a row. The message of the MBCC is as important today as it was 20 years ago: We will end the epidemic of breast cancer only through PREVENTION, and we must allocate resources to identify and eliminate environmental links to cancer in our water, air, soil, food, cleaning materials and personal care products.
Fitness activities have been an important part of my life for thirty-five years, and participating in Against the Tide -- walking, swimming, kayaking and bicycling -- is a way that I can help provide a healthier future for all women. I am concerned by the increasing number of women that I know who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I support the work of MBCC, advocating for research into environmental factors causing this epidemic.
I have raised over $45,000 for the MBCC in my previous twelve events, collecting many small contributions from family, friends and colleagues who all support the goal of BREAST CANCER PREVENTION. Please support the MA Breast Cancer Coalition and help me reach my fundraising goal of $5,000 this year.
