Unfortunately, for the first time in twelve years, I cannot be in Hopkinton to swim, walk and kayak at Against the Tide! Due to a prior commitment in New York City on that day, I have come up with an alternate plan: I will fulfill my Against the Tide obligations with a 32-mile bike ride around the island of Manhattan the following day – a personal challenge greater than the 1-mile swim, 2-mile kayak and 3-mile walk “nature triathlon” that I typically complete at the Hopkinton event. I hope that you agree that this is a fair substitute for your support of MBCC’s Against the Tide.
Fitness activities have been an important part of my life for thirty-five years, and joining Against the Tide is a way that I can help provide a healthier future for all women. I am concerned by the increasing number of younger women that I know who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I support the work of MBCC, advocating for research into environmental factors causing this epidemic.
I have raised over $40,000 for the MA Breast Cancer Coalition in my previous eleven swims, collecting many small contributions from family, friends and colleagues who all support the goal of BREAST CANCER PREVENTION. Please support the MA Breast Cancer Coalition and help me reach my fundraising goal of $5,000 this year.
