Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
My brother's family sent me a wonderful plaque for my birthday that says
"Our perfect companions never have fewer than four feet" - colette
With that saying in mind, we are dedicating this year's fund raiser to our beloved adopted Kodie. Although we lost her in October after 10 wonderful years with us, I only have to look at this favorite photograph of her with my husband to say "Wow, now THAT'S unconditional love!" It definately flowed both ways! Kodie had been badly treated by her previous "owner" who dumped her at the shelter because her boyfriend didn't like her. Although she warmed up to Hugh pretty quickly, it took her nearly a year to accept me and not cringe when I (or any other woman) walked into the room. After a year, she was Queen of the Roost!
Although we lost Kodie, we added to our pack when I found a little brown and white Basenji mix on the way to visit my Mom. When I told my husband I'd found another dog, he didn't hesitate and said "Bring her home!" And home she is. We named her Georgia (since that's where I found her and we couldn't call her Exit 73!) For a puppy dumped on a country road, she has adapted nicely and is best buds with Mollie, our poster pup from last year's fundraiser. (My older girls are breathing a sigh of relief since Mollie has a new playmate and doesn't bother them too much :)
Our local SPCA has had such a wonderful turn around and is really doing great works for the homeless animals here. According to our local paper, the euthanasia rate for adoptable animals dropped to 0% for January!!! Our goal is to help them continue this incredible job by raising as much money for them as we can. Please consider donating $20, $10, even $1 - it all adds up and every penny will be greatly appreciated. You can donate through this secure site or, if you prefer, I'll gladly pass on checks or cash.
And finally, please get involved and pass the word about adoption where you live. Even if you can't take in an animal at this time (and I hope you'll consider it!) you can help in other ways. Raise money, donate food, beds, toys, medicine, and volunteer time. Offer to spend time with a shelter dog so they can have a little moment of happiness. There's so much that needs doing and so much we can do together! Thanks for stopping by!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
