Melanoma is the fastest-growing cancer in the world.
• Every year, approximately 70,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with melanoma, and almost 9,000 patients succumb to the disease.
• In the United States, someone is diagnosed with melanoma every eight minutes; every hour, someone dies from the disease.
• It is the fastest-growing cancer in people under 35, with even more alarming growth rates in young women.
The 10th annual Miles for Melanoma, “Doin' It For Deb” Deb Sandry 5K Memorial Walk for Melanoma Research WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!
Saturday, May 12th.
2003-2012
10 years of Caring, Sharing, and Hope
Deb Sandry was an inspiration to those who knew her. Deb was diagnosed with Melanoma in 1994, she fought it bravely, aggressively, positively to the very end, and inspired others to do the same. She was an advocate of prevention and early diagnosis, as well as stepped-up research in search of a cure.
Out of honor and love for her, this 5K Memorial Walk on the beautiful Augustana College Campus, Rock Island, Illinois, has been established, hoping to carry on her fight and raise money for research.
