I am Dominique Mattis, a SEN10R at Panther Creek High School. I am a candidate for the American Red Cross Queen of Hearts Scholarship. It is a fun challenging youth program created to increase the awareness of the services the American Red Cross provides to the community. I personally enjoy every aspect of this program; it has instilled in me the importance of intellectual skills, work ethic, and most importantly selflessness.
As a candidate I have been given a month to fundraise (January 28th, 2010 to February 28th, 2010). The winner will receive a scholarship and he county's title. If I am fortunate to win the Wake County American Red Cross title; this will not be the last you see of me. I will devote my time to spreading awareness of the American Red Cross services and I will continue to plan events! I will be fearless!

Generous donations are committed in direct financial assistance to families devastated by home fires and other disaster; in training in First Aid, CPR, Water Safety, and life-saving courses; emergency messages between military members and their families; and a lot of other emergencies. The American Red Cross continues to help the local community prevent, prepare, and respond to disasters.
$5 Provides basic comfort items lost in a fire
$10 Feeds a victim of disaster for a day
$50 Feeds and diapers a baby for a week
$75 Feeds a family of two for a week
$100 Replaces clothing lost in a fire
$250 Provides clothing and shoes for a family of two
$500 Replaces bedding lost to disaster for a family of three
$1000 Helps a family of three financially recover from a disaster
